Love it or hate it

Reading through other people's reviews, it becomes clear that most people either love or hate this movie. After watching it, I can see why. To me, it is a movie that rings true, particularly if you are from a dysfunctional family or have a member of your family that struggles with addiction issues. Reality often goes by at a snail's pace and is often reflected in the little moments, which is what makes this movie great to some and terribly boring to others. I liked it. It's strange at times-a rather unorthodox wedding and a race to see who fills up the dishwasher fastest, but I think that's what makes it brilliant. Real life is strange. Anne Hathaway, who I'm used to seeing in light-hearted roles, played this character beautifully-I found Kim's struggle very believable. This movie is certainly not a comedy though and probably not the kind of movie most people would want to see more than once.

Most Underrated Film of the Year

Dear ITunes, this film is not a comedy. This film contains some of the most compelling performances in cinema. Demme geniously decided to have minimal rehearsals and shoot the film like a narrative documentary of this wedding and the weekend of the wedding. You will come to love characters simply because you know the family more than the love of character. And for those of you who know people struggling with addiction, this will hit even closer to home. Regardless, the film is relatable in a visceral way where you feel like you know the deep pain and love of this particular family. Absolutely stunning. The writing also lends itself to the acting as the conflicts arise naturally (in conjunction with the style of shooting, there is nothing contrived here...).

really, really good (but not a comedy)

iTunes this movie is decidedly a DRAMA some parts may be humorous, but there is no way it's a comedy. way too involved, dark material p.s. she should be more than an also ran for best actress (after seeing all of the performances, hers was the hardest and best executed)
