Plot Summary

This documentary depicts the struggle and views of six seminal Punk Rockers who survived and transcended the corporate machinery that would try to suppress their unique vision of society and attempts at voicing it. It evokes the passion and vision that fueled the much over-looked movement now known as Punk. The film translates, through their eyes, how the Punk Scene originated in the US and specifically, the West Coast, why they chose this route, their influences, and how Punk evolved into the major cultural influence it is today. Through in-depth interviews, archival footage and stills–much of it never before seen, and contemporary motion graphics/animation, the viewer is taken on an informational ride that is nothing less than an epiphany. A fascinating journey that in turn is shocking, humorous and informative, "Rage" is definitely a hybrid documentary not to miss. Though each of the main players in this film were originally in their groups 25 years ago, each has maintained an active participation in performing and other music-related endeavors. Their longevity is reflected in the continued interest of their hard-core constituency and the burgeoning interest by a new generation, sealing their places as originators and innovators and making an indelible mark on Rock and Roll history.

Nothing said

I wanted to enjoy this, but the lengthy interviews and constant interrupting by the director caused this film to suffer. At times I wondered if the director had any clue about punk rock. For a supposed 20 year history of west coast punk, how do you not discuss Black Flag? 45 Grave? The Bags? And Gitane is your sole female punk rock rep? So many opportunities lost, and in the end this film contains some often seen before live footage, yet says nothing. Grisham, Biafra and Bolles are alwasy entertaining (did Bolles ever blink?), but this movie is saved by one man---Duane Peters. You want to talk to a punk who is still living it, he`s your man.

Bummer

This is the worst "punk" movie ever. Aside from Jack and Keith it is a total failure. Jack is a crack up as usual and Keith is still a weirdo. I don't know what was worse: the creator of the film who kept wanting you to know he was "there" or the really lame goth chick lecturing us about how Green Day on MTV is not "punk." No duh.

Highlights: Jack, Keith and the 20 milliseconds of Flipper.

Lowlights: Gitane, Jello's broken-record ramblings, recycled pictures and footage, lack of mention for other bands like one reviewer mentions like Flag, Germs, HB, Adolscents, 45 Grave, Long Beach and so on.

I've already deleted it from my iPad after watching it.

Take it from me kiddies, this is not the movie if you want to know what it was like "back then."

Entertaining Doc

I saw this in the theater and the whole audience laughed out loud, there is also real insight into the scene back in the day. It was at the
"Don't Knock the Rock" film festival and got a standing O.

In response to DWAYNE LYONS' slanderous comments I must respond with he came into the production after
over $100,000 was used to make this movie. Good or bad he was told the risks of film production and profiting
from an indie film. This man worked as a lighting director (great) and associate producer helping me solve
problems. My drinking problem was and is solved as I am clean and sober for 14 years. His bitterness is typical
of people who expect to get rich quick in the movie buiz. Its not goning to happen, its very rare. Go to DWAYNE
LYON'S facebook page to see what this person is really all about.
