A New Holiday Classic
There are no words to describe how much I loved this film. I saw it the day after Christmas last year on the big screen with a bunch of friends and it was immediately adopted by all of us as a new annual holiday tradition. If you can't handle reading subtitles and real storytelling don't waste your time. But if you are a real movie lover who enjoys a bit of dark humor you really need to see this movie.
Interesting Take On Christmas!
I agree with many critics and viewers alike, this film was very entertaining. The director creates a level of suspense and then adds a little Yuletide Cheer. It's certainly not a Christmas movie that for kids, but it can be enjoyed for those who are a kid at heart. I think the actors play their roles very well, especially the young male lead and his father. I'm not sure I'd recommend this viewing every Christmas, but those who are like me and think Christmas decorations are going up earlier and earlier, then this is a film to watch just after Halloween and a few times after Thanksgiving!
This is an original story that's worth enjoying if only for the "Devilish" elements! Merry Christmas!
Enjoyed this movie immensely
Very hard to categorize. A little Spielberg-esque with a young boy discovering something extraordinary and fantastical that adults find hard to believe. Beautifully shot, the quality stands next to the best Hollywood has to offer. Is it for you? Its creepy, and the feint of heart may find it scary, but I think it really is just a wonderful adventure story set in a land I know very little about. There's some great dark humor, and the original "Santa" was something I knew little about. As someone who has seen a lot of movies, this was a great surprise. Loved the actors, the little boy and his father really won me over. The ending completely surprised me and had me smiling from ear to ear.
