Plot Summary
A riveting psychological thriller that investigates the nature of truth and the meaning of justice, Rashomon is widely considered one of the greatest films ever made. Four people give different accounts of a man’s murder and the rape of his wife, which director Akira Kurosawa presents with striking imagery and an ingenious use of flashbacks. This eloquent masterwork and international sensation revolutionized film language and introduced Japanese cinema—and a commanding new star by the name of Toshiro Mifune—to the Western world.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: Much of the power of the picture -- and it unquestionably has hypnotic power -- derives from the brilliance with which the camera of director Akira Kurosawa has been used.
Fresh: Rashomon is a novel, stimulating moviegoing experience, and a sure sign that U.S. film importers will be looking hard at Japanese pictures from now on.
Fresh: This caused a flurry in critical circles for its brilliance of conception, technique, acting and its theme of passion.
Fresh: What Akira Kurosawa and his tiny production team wrought is now an accepted maxim of modern life, a creed by which to live in a world where everyone has a blog and an opinion.

Masterpiece
This is one of those films that you hear referenced to a lot, and for good reason. Four people see and or take part in a traumatic event and each tell a different story of what happened. Everything is done to perfection, the lighting, the rain, the sets, the editing, the music, etc. All of Kurosawa’s films are great, and this film is one of his best.
Love the movie, hate iTunes
I purchased this film. Then, iTunes made me change my password. Now iTunes won't give me my films!! I lost hundreds of dollars of films, including this one. There is no support, so I have to write this "review."
