Plot Summary
Two young kids inadvertently unleash a giant sea creature which is somehow strengthened from the abundance of modern-day pollution. Mothra's keepers, the tiny twins Moll and Lora, quickly rouse the gentle giant in order to combat this latest threat to peace.

It's OK.
Despite what some may say, this movie is alright. Yes, it is just a kiddie movie, but it does have some nice music, and the special effects are fairly decent. The monster fights are well done too, although they aren't anywhere near as brutal as the ones in the first Rebirth of Mothra. The acting is average at best, although the actresses who portray the Eliases (Mothra's little fairy people) give some decent performances compared to everyone else. I actually enjoy this movie, and it's a great way to introduce young children to the world of kaiju. Mothra Leo's design is pretty good, and the Aqua Mothra design is adequate, and Dagarla is a unique design compared to other kaiju. Overall, its an average kaiju movie thats worth watching once or twice for sheer fun, but thats about it, as I'd probably recommend renting it, but not really buying it. Although, I would definitely recommend buying the third Rebirth of Mothra, since that one is the best of the trilogy. Rent this one, and then wait for I-Tunes to release the third Rebirth of Mothra for buying.
MORE MAGIC!... But again no soundtrack!?!
Okay, while parts of this film do tend to teeter precariously over the edge of the ridiculous at times, you cannot deny that it is extremely fun to watch! This film has always held a special place in my heart because I not only grew up with it, but it was one of my first monster movies. While it's main audience was children (which can only mean more grown men feigning children voices in a dubbing booth somewhere in Hong Kong...), the film has the ability to be enjoyed by people of all ages! You just need to tap into your inner 10 year old, that's all! On a related note, one of the film's best attributes is, like it's predecessor, it's musical score, once again composed by Mr. Watanabe. The gorgeous music, which builds off motifs established in the first film, has been released in America, along with soundtracks for the first and third Rebirth of Mothra films. So iTunes... WHERE THE HECK ARE THEY? Please put them on! You won't be disappointed! But back to the main point, this film is great and deserves to be given a chance! Oh, and one more thing...MOTHRA RULES!!!!!!!
Good movie, but low because...
The reason this is getting a low rating because I am more disappointed with iTunes!! There is still one more "Rebirth of Mothra" movie from 1998. GET THAT MOVIE ON HERE NOW!!
