Plot Summary

The highly anticipated sequel to one of the scariest films of all time, [REC] 2 picks up 15 minutes from where we left off, taking us back into the quarantined apartment building where a terrifying virus has run rampant, turning the occupants into mindlessly violent, raging beasts. A heavily armed SWAT team and a mysterious government official are sent in to assess and attempt to neutralize the situation. What they find inside lies beyond the scope of medical science—a demonic nightmare of biblical proportions more terrifying than they could have possibly imagined. Above all it must be contained, before it escapes to wreak havoc on the unsuspecting world outside.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Frantic from the get-go, this new crop of zombie bait barrels through shadowy hallways and fends off waxen, emaciated attackers with such hysterical speed it's impossible to know -- or care -- whose face has just been chomped. – Jeannette Catsoulis, New York Times, Jul 9, 2010

Fresh: Unlike so many sequels, [REC] 2 builds nicely on the ideas introduced first time around; in particular, the nature and history of the disease, only touched on in the original, are explored much more fully here to chilling effect. – Michael Ordona, Los Angeles Times, Jul 9, 2010

Fresh: The shaky camera work (and explosive gore) can get literally nauseating. But when the characters' cameras run low, and the screen goes black? That's the scariest thing of all. – Stephen Whitty, Newark Star-Ledger, Jul 9, 2010

Fresh: The new film manages to retain the claustrophobic tension of the original while deftly juggling multiple viewpoints. – Colin Covert, Minneapolis Star Tribune, Jul 8, 2010

Excellent follow up!

This is one of the best sequel's ever made period, not just for horror movies. If you haven't seen the original Rec, but have seen quarantine, then it picks up the same way, considering Quarantine is basically a shot for shot remake of Rec, which is why Quarantine was so good. That being said, the second part picks up right where the first one left off, this time with a team of video equiped swat members enter the home looking for survivors. The acting, writing, and execution are great, the mockumentary style really brings through the fear that is trying to be pushed through. A litlle more of a paranormal feel in Rec 2 while still keeping the infestation angle in tact. Buy it, watch it, and enjoy!

Loved it

The sequel explain so much on why things are happening, and has the same if not more scares than the first. This is was a good movie.

Just As Good As the First

If you liked the first one, you'll like REC 2. It has more of a paranormal feel than the first one since you now know what's going on (if you followed the first one). It's a little bloodier than the first, and a little bit scarier. And remember the shocking ending that we didn't see coming in the first REC? Well REC 2 has another shocking ending that I doubt you'll see coming. The ending in this one is a little more jaw-dropping and shocking, too. Very highly recommended if you saw the first one, and if you haven't seen REC, YOU NEED TO! If you haven't seen it, I doubt you've experienced a real horror movie (unless you've seen The Exorcist, The Evil Dead, or The Shining).
