Plot Summary
From executive producers who brought you Quarantine, comes the movie that inspired the terror. A beautiful TV reporter (Manuela Velasco, Law of Desire) and her cameraman are doing a routine interview at a local fire station when an emergency call comes in. Accompanying the firefighters to a nearby apartment, the news team begins recording the bloodcurdling screams coming from inside an elderly woman's unit. After authorities seal off the building to contain the threat, the news crew, firefighters and residents are trapped to face a lethal terror inside. With the camera running, nothing may survive but the film itself.

Fresh: This Spanish horror thriller is based on a great idea that takes a new bite at the zombie genre, combined with a different way of telling the story," says Andrew
Fresh: An unexceptional workout for the adrenaline glands nudged up several notches by a climax that will cause muchos trouser trauma to all but the recently deceased.
Fresh: A brilliantly staged early scare signals that the safety rails are off and, despite an unexpected, last-minute swerve into the supernatural realm, the edge-of-the-seat tension is sustained to the very last second.
Fresh: Even thought it's the third such effort to employ handheld camera in a zombie flick, this has more than enough shocks to hold its own.

Dubbed!!?
This is a great film, BUT why is it dubbed in ENGLISH? Very Annoying.
Dubbed Movies Are for Morons
Having seen and liked "Quarantine", I thought I'd check out the Spanish original. I'd heard that it was even better than the remake, and even though it's essentially the same movie, I really wanted to check it out. Of course, I turned it off a few seconds in when I realized that it was dubbed. And also of course, I had to buy it since it's not available for rent yet, so there's $14.99 down the toilet. At least now I know to read the reviews of foreign films to make sure they're subtitled, not dubbed. Hopefully, iTunes will fix this like they did with "Let the Right One In" (which was never dubbed, but was originally made available with an inferior translation).
Better than the US remake by far
Unfortunately I saw the American version first. I thought it was ok. Not good, but ok. Then, I heard that Rec was the original and better so I bought it. Yes, it follows the scenes almost exactly, but the difference is that everything is better. The acting is better, the gore is more realistic, the scares are scarier, and there is more of a plot that gets revealed than in the US version. Also, I couldn't stand the US version actress. She was awful. The Rec actress was so much better and realistic. So, yes, it was much better than the American version, but isn't that always the case?
