Plot Summary
Winner of the 2010 Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Prize for documentary, RESTREPO chronicles the deployment of a platoon of U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan's Korengal Valley, one of the most dangerous postings in the U.S. military. The movie focuses on 15 soldiers based at "Outpost Restrepo," named after a platoon medic killed early in the deployment. Filmed by author Sebastian Junger ("War") and award-winning photographer Tim Hetherington, RESTREPO takes viewers on their own 90-minute deployment, without comment or agenda. This is war, full stop. A National Geographic Entertainment release.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: In hewing closely to the rhythms of war, Junger and Hetherington forgo different considerations about war.
Fresh: A look at both the tragic folly of war and the camaraderie of men under pressure, the documentary Restrepo holds both hope and horror.
Fresh: The reaction of a soldier to the death of another - unvarnished, disbelieving grief so raw it's difficult to watch - is among the most moving footage of war and its cost imaginable.
Fresh: After the recent avalanche of pundit-filled advocacy documentaries about health care, failing schools and environmental collapse, it's a bracing experience to be trusted to think for oneself.

Restrepo
While some reviewers have chosen to use their words to make a political statement about a subject they know not (Bigg B, the U.S. left NO ORDNACE on the ground in the Korengal upon withdrawl), I will tell you this is the most accurate depiction of the American Infantryman I have ever seen. He is young, acts his age and doesn't match the Hollywood version. But there is no other I would choose as a companion and commerade in war. I have been to the Korengal and this is the real thing. Although no film can give you a true picture of what daily life on the front line of Afghanistan is like, this film will get you as close as can be done.
God Loves an Infantryman.

Nothing less than excellent. One of the best war documentaries I've ever seen!
As real as it gets...
Freedom does not persist without patriots willing to serve her cause, a rare inside look at the battlefront in Afghanistan, God bless the troops serving the noble cause!
