A Classic Sleeper Of High Noon Caliber
This should be a classic western. Frankie Laine sings a very forlorn song and Chuck Connors plays his part very well. Claude Akins does his character as he always does, superbly. I liked the interplay of a man wronged, rejected by woman he loves and feared by the town to which he returns. The poor man who has worked hard to redeem himself returns to be branded as a theif, his money stolen, scorned, and even hated. He has lost eveything a man can lose, his wife, eleven hard years of his life, and all the money he worked for hoping to redeem himself in the eyes of the town and his wife. There is no fast action in every scene but drama and an undercurrent of expectancy characteristic of the old classic movies like High Noon and 3:10 to Yuma. This movie may not be for everyone but for the afficionado it is another classic.
