Really Clever, Fun Time Capsule!

Starting from the beginning of how J.R.R. Tolkien created his amazing stories THE HOBBIT and THE LORD OF THE RINGS, this lovingly-made documentary follows a straight line through the decades of how the rest of the world fell in love with Middle-earth. It's great fun to see how the American hippie movement embraced Frodo and Bilbo -- followed by the rockers and rollers (LED ZEPPELIN, BOWIE, RUSH) -- and then the crazy fantasy explosion of the 80's (movies like KRULL & CONAN & WILLOW), then the whole Internet thing happened! --- of course there's the big powerhouse finale of Peter Jackson's massive "LORD OF THE RINGS TRILOGY," and you realize how much the world fell truly madly deeply in love with Elves Dwarves Wizards Goblins Dragons and Hobbits! They sure cover a lot of ground and *every* single actor that you love from the movies is interviewed - many of them being surprisingly thoughtful about Tolkien! They got a surprising number of famous rockers, actors, and fantasy authors to open up on camera about this phenomenon! We even get wonderful insights with Geddy Lee from RUSH, Lemmy from MOTORHEAD and here comes the late David Carradine revealing a surprise that he campaigned to play Aragorn in the old 1978 film that Ralph Bakshi animated! Who knew that Clive Barker was still so cool and brilliant talking about Tolkien! Dominic Monaghan narrates wonderfully - Elijah Wood is here, Sean Astin, Sir Ian McKellen, and Orlando, Viggo, Liv, John Rhys-Davies, Peter Jackson himself.... They're all here! And when you get to the end of this fun little documentary you realize kids are picking up the books with the same love as their parents.... and we are all Ringers continuing to bring Tolkien forward into the future. It's all really cool when you think about it for a minute. Surprised that I enjoyed this film: a great look into a true phenomenon. *Well done!*
