Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Ugly. – Leigh Singer, Film4, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: Footsoldier doesn't so much pack a punch as leave you feeling violated and more importantly, robs you of two hours of your life you won't get back. – Catherine Chambers, BBC.com, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: The direction smacks of sadism, especially the obvious glee Gilbey gets from filming violent scenes in close-up and, in the case of the bloody shotgun-to-the-face denouement, in triplicate. – David Jenkins, Time Out, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: A peculiar but decidedly ordinary addition to the British thug genre. – Kim Newman, Empire Magazine, Jun 24, 2010

What

I watched this movie…….why? The movie follows the criminal career of a British gangster. So is there any plot? Any real direction? Any character development? Any comment on the emptiness os such a life? No. It is simply a recapitulation of this guys criminal life. And the guy was a bad guy. So what is the movie exactly? Just one scene of violence followed by another scene of violence. If you like getting beaten down with that for two hours go ahead. What a lazy, soulless director. Apple seems to censor it's apps store with an eye toward keeping the junk out. Too bad they don't do the same for the movies in iTunes. Two stars because it's well made but what's the point?
