Plot Summary
Basketball is much more than a game in this stirring documentary about an Iraqi women's basketball team at the American University of Iraq - Sulaimani. For the young women on the team, most of whom have never been allowed to play any sport, basketball is a blissful release from the realities of a war-torn nation. They come from all corners of Iraq to attend this prestigious school, but many cannot tell family back home they attend an "American" university. They come from all ethnicities and sects—Arab, Kurd, Turcoman, Shiite, Sunni, Christian—but the joy they discover in playing the game and the love they come to feel for the young American man who coaches them reveals an Iraq united in a way we've never seen before. A FilmBuff Presentation.

Solid Doc - Great story and interesting characters
I saw this a few months ago in the festival circuit and was blown away - Really strong doc. Interesting subject matter, genuine characters, and powerful film making . I would recommend this to both sports fans and non sports people.
Haven't rooted for a team so hard in years.
Loved this film at the human rights film festival put on by Human Rights Watch in New York. Was inspired and touched by the human story & I even surprised myself how much I got into the girls' season and the story of their team. Made me laugh, cry, have fun and walk away with food for thought. Great nuanced talk by the Director afterward was a special treat. Definitely recommend.
