Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Richards starred in 2007's The Golden Compass and, compared with big-budget fantasies of that kind, this smaller effort can't help looking mimsy, despite its good intentions. – Edward Porter, Times [UK], Jul 7, 2010

Rotten: A sluggish narrative is further hampered by "comic" turns (Juliet Stevenson, as a gurning governess) and some frankly shameless knockoffs. – Anthony Quinn, Independent, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: Nicely put together, but just a little dull. – Trevor Johnston, Time Out, Nov 16, 2011

Rotten: It's not quite a disaster but this disappointing and poorly executed fantasy adventure never reaches the level of magic and enchantment it needs to succeed. – Saxon Bullock, Film4, Jun 24, 2010

Becoming my favorite movie!!

This movie does have it all and I loved it! I'm a big Maria and Robin fan, I cant get enough of the two. They're are so cute together. Anywho this was a great and entertaining movie. I loved watching it and youll love this movie too if you like fantasy movies like Percy Jackson, The Spiderwick Chronicles, or Narina series. Its not just a kids movie!! Buy it, I know I'm going to right now!

GREAT for kids and grownups alike!

I'm always skeptical with "family fantasy" movies that they'll be cheesy or poorly done, but this one was a beautifuly done film with great effects and a super storyline. We got to know the characters and the setting and it was done all in good taste.
This will most definitly be a favorite in our house and I'm glad to have found one we can watch over and over again!!!

Book Compaired To The Movie

This movie was great but the book was much better. The book is The Little White Horse by Elizabeth Goudge. An amazing book and movie. To anyone who liked or disliked this movie, then I strongly suggest you read this book!
