Plot Summary
Will Ferrell stars in Semi-Pro, an outrageous comedy set in 1976 against the backdrop of the maverick ABA a fast-paced, wild and crazy basketball league that rivaled the NBA and made a name for itself with innovations like the three-point shot and slam dunk contest. Ferrell plays Jackie Moon, a one-hit wonder who used the profits from the success of his chart-topping song “Love Me Sexy” to achieve his dream of owning a basketball team. But Moons franchise, the Flint Michigan Tropics, is the worst team in the league and in danger of folding when the ABA announces its plans to merge with the NBA. If they want to survive, Jackie and the Tropics must now do the seemingly impossible WIN.

Rotten: Judging from this low-scoring sports comedy about the mystique of men with balls, Will Ferrell needs to call a time-out from belly baring to refocus his fan-favorite game of playing clueless male doofuses.
Rotten: An orgy of disco-era excess, it's also an interminable exercise in beating a dead horse.
Rotten: There isn't enough going on in Semi-Pro, comically or otherwise, to sustain the movie even through its first half-hour. This may be one of the most sluggish sports comedies ever made -- even the supposedly rousing final sequence feels belabored.

A not so funny film from Will Ferrell
I was really excited to see this movie and when I finally did I was extremly dissapointed. They were was just trying way too hard to be funny. Don't get me wrong it did had its moments where it was hilarious, but overall it was a failure as a comedy. It's sad really b/c anchorman and talladega nights are one of my favorite movies from Will Ferrell. My only hope that his new film Step Brothers will be way better.
Incredibly Hillarious!
Will Ferrell comes through yet again with Woody Harrelson to deliver a ridiculous, yet hallarious film that involves a tacky and crude sense of humor (typical Will Ferrell movies). Ferrell plays Jackie Moon, a player, coach, and owner of the Flint Tropics, a basketball team in the ABA in the 1970's. This is by far one of Ferrell's best performances. Ferrell plays as a kind of clueless character with a smart allec attitude and quick witted sense of humor. Harrelson plays a serious role which counter balances the comedic roll of Ferrell, but still makes the film very funny. Andre Benjamin, singer and performer from Outkast and Black Eyed Peas also plays as a player on Tropics. Benjamin also delivers a very good performance, acting as a cocky, yet funny player for Ferrell. I highly reccommend this movie, as it is another Will Ferrell Classic.

this is one of the funniest movies that ive ever seen,,,make sure to get the unrated version
