Plot Summary
Commercial director Christian Johnston makes his feature film debut with the dramatic thriller September Tapes. The story takes place in Afghanistan, one year after the events of September 11. American journalist Don Larson (George Calil) and his two companions travel to Kabul in order to investigate the search for Osama bin Laden. After meeting with members of the Northern Alliance, he is arrested for taking photographs. While he's incarcerated, Don learns about a bounty hunter named Babak who may be able to help them. September Tapes premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2004 as part of the American Spectrum competition.

very good movie
This movie is great. It was shot on location and many of the scenes are quite real, as the Afghanis encountered by the filmmakers did not always realize it was just a movie (the Dept of Defense confiscated over 8 hours of footage, saying it was compromising to national security). shows the grim reality of war the way CNN won't show it to you.
Amazing Movie!!!! #1 Hit
This movie was very well cordinated making it look more then real, with camera movements like the blaire witch projects its by far one of my fav movies.
Very Poor
Poorly acted and directed this is nothing more then a shameful exploitation of post 911 grief. This is a story of a guy who thinks he can act as a journalist while secretly wanting to kill the Taliban. He has no time for any option other then his own making it obvious that he has no journalistic intentions at all. The whole fake Documentary fell apart really quick, with no involvement with the central characters or there fate. It is filmed in Afghanistan and the only truly good moments are the people who do not know they are in a film, as said by Wali at one point “Why don’t you just make a documentary about schools”. I couldn’t agree more, a film about the Afghani people and the struggles they endure would be the better film.
