Plot Summary

From the creators of MONSTER BRAWL, EXIT HUMANITY, and PONTYPOOL comes this award-winning origin story of Jack, a sewage worker who’s determined to uncover the cause of the town’s water contamination crisis. But when he becomes trapped underground in a septic tank without food or water he undergoes a hideous and repulsive transformation. In order to escape the tank, he must team up with a docile Giant and confront a murdering madman. Hailed as a “stunning” (Little Red Umbrella), “funny” (TwitchFilm), and “visceral story that will leave you shaken – and desperate for a shower” (Rue Morgue Magazine), SEPTIC MAN is a cinematic odyssey into the darkest depths of horror and beyond.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: The crappiest chiller in recent memory, quite literally. – Geoff Berkshire, Variety, Aug 15, 2014

Rotten: It's a grotesque, deadly dull piece of cinematic upchuck, a horror film minus tension or chills. Think "The Toxic Avenger," minus the avenger. – Gary Goldstein, Los Angeles Times, Aug 14, 2014

Rotten: Theaters showing Septic Man should be required to issue hazmat suits at the door. – Frank Scheck, Hollywood Reporter, Aug 13, 2014

Rotten: Former wrestler Maillet is the only performer who generates any empathy. – Jesse Hassenger, AV Club, Aug 14, 2014

Customer Reviews

oh noooo!

This movie is beyond terrible, I will now try to flush it from my mind. I wish I could give it zero stars.

Another horror classic!!! (i.e. not as sh*&@y as you think!)

Few horror movies legitimately make you feel like you truly want to puke out your organs or that you have a horrible case of unmitigated diarrhea. This horror flick has the uniqueness needed to be added to the list of horror classics. Nearly every frame is a moment of disgust and filth, the making of this film must have been a crappy experience. The 5th star is missing due to needed story line completion (back story for evil brothers, potential prequel set-up). Jason Brown's performance was profound and the main reason as to why the fourth star rating was achieved. The production value was great and there are even moments of comedic joy in the dialogue. Thank you for the escape route, this movie helps to make the perception of everyday life seem far less, well, Sh&*@y.
