Plot Summary
It happens with startling swiftness and violence. An armed cadre seizes state control. Fortunately, a coup d'etat can't happen here. Or can it? A classic of suspense directed by John Frankenheimer, Seven Days in May tautly explores that possibility. At odds are a popular general and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman and an unpopular President with a pacifist agenda. At stake is the survival of the Republic. A vigilant colonel uncovers the scheme. But are the seven fateful days ahead enough time to derail a takeover? The clock is ticking.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: As dismal as is the complication that they and this picture present, the acknowledgment of its possibility and the discovery of how it might be resolved, with wisdom and fundamental courage, make this a brave and forceful film.
Fresh: A strikingly dramatic, realistic and provocatively topical film.
Fresh: John Frankenheimer directed, too much in love with technique, though he ably taps the neuroticism of Burt Lancaster, Kirk Douglas, and Fredric March.
Fresh: Shot in stark black and white, it shows the military not as the usual buffoons, but as ruthless right-wingers with a political agenda.

Seven Days in May
This takes place in the ealry 60's but could apply to our unsettled world today. The characters are all fresh and the plot keeps your attention from the very first frame. We will never see stars work together like this ever again.
Not the original full-lenth movie!
Not the full version! Best part of movie at the end was edited and cut short. Extremely disappointed!
Better than contemporary films
The films of these times often lack the conviction and quality of these classics. Much better than skin, gore and silly special effects.
