Plot Summary

SEVEN DAYS IN UTOPIA follows the story of Luke Chisolm (Lucas Black), a talented young golfer set on making the pro tour. When his first big shot turns out to be a very public disaster, Luke escapes the pressures of the game and finds himself unexpectedly stranded in Utopia, Texas, home to eccentric rancher Johnny Crawford (Robert Duvall). But Johnny's more than meets the eye, and his profound ways of looking at life force Luke to question not only his past choices, but his direction for the future. Based on David L. Cook's best-selling book Golf's Sacred Journey: Seven Days at the Links of Utopia, SEVEN DAYS IN UTOPIA also stars Melissa Leo, Deborah Ann Woll, Brian Geraghty, Jerry Ferrera, Joseph Lyle Taylor, KJ Choi and Kathy Baker.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: [A] humorless, mystically fortified golfing movie... – Stephen Holden, New York Times, Sep 1, 2011

Rotten: Little more than a pleasantly passable Christian sports parable delivered as a sort of Texan golfer's version of The Karate Kid. – Andrew Barker, Variety, Aug 30, 2011

Rotten: There are no real bumps in that road, and though the drama has its heartfelt moments, it unrolls as flat as the Texas terrain, cast in an idyllic summer glow. – Sheri Linden, Los Angeles Times, Sep 1, 2011

Rotten: "Seven Days in Utopia" is flawed in so many ways -- the editing, writing, acting and Matthew Dean Russell's direction are uniformly weak -- that this well-intentioned film does its positive messages a disservice. – Gary M. Kramer, Salon.com, Sep 1, 2011

A great movie!

This movie is a great movie for the whole family. A truly convicting story, this movie follows the book well, and both are a great movie for golf lovers, Christians, and those who haven't yet found God.

Great Movie!

This is a great movie for the whole family. My wife loved it and she doesn't even play golf. It's a great message too!

Take note! Excellent movie!

In our current state, society is driven by achievement, successes, possessions, fame and instant gratification. All of these, within reason and balance are not wrong, however they are detrimental when the important truths of life are ignored or discarded to achieve these temporary successes. What this movie offers is a reminder of eternal truth; God is author of all truth, He is our standard by which all things should be measured. The real successes and achievements in this life are not found in self exaltation, external peer praise nor the temporary....it is found in the gifts God gives; His word& wisdom, inner peace from knowing who we are in Christ, our loved ones and simply giving oneself to others and to a job well done.
This movie has a follow up on the website that is excellent. I recommend watching film and follow up on the web page.....enjoy and transform!
