Plot Summary
In the tradition of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon comes the spectacular new motion picture from acclaimed director Tsui Hark (Once Upon a Time in China trilogy starring Jet Li), featuring the incomparable talents of martial arts superstars Donnie Yen (Hero, Shanghai Knights, Kill Zone) and Master Lau Kar-leung (Legend of the Drunken Master). Seven Swords combines stunning action choreography, lavish production design and epic storytelling in the heroic tale of seven master swordsmen who band together to prevent the slaughter of innocent villagers by an evil warlord.

Too much story to fit into one movie
If anyone knows the background about the orginal story of the 7 swords, he or she can agree that there is too much story to pack into one movie. Therefore I found 7 swords to be rushed, alot o story lines were not developed enough but quickly brushed over, and then there were things that were drawn out for too long. The good thing about this movie is the swords - - each sword was unique and the swordplays were awesome to watch. Plus Donnie Yen is in it - - he is up there with Jet Li in my book.
If You Love Swords...
Then I would suggest in watching the movie. I found it enjoyable and certainly entertaining enough. The Blue-Ray version looks fantastic and the sound effects;~ marvelous. I would ultimately rate the movie THREE AND A HALF stars but if I had to pick, I would go with four stars.
The battles were entertaining and thrilling. (Especially the last fight)
Kept in it's original language is always a plus. (Because most dubbed voice actors have poor skills)
Bloody fights and a villain that just terrorizes anyone just because. (Sure why not)
Beautiful scenery and sword designs.
If you haven't read up on the story then the movie will feel rushed (and a sense of feeling cheated might occur) but all in all, still an exciting movie to watch on movie night. (Or if you are like me, watch the movie on the ipod during lunch at work. ;D )
Question: how do the subtitles play on the iPod?
I have read customer reviews on other movies with subtitles that note the subtitles are cut off when viewing on the iPod. For example, Man On Fire (Denzel Washington) and Bancock Dangerous (1999, the original not the Nick Cage remake) play well when exporting to TV but do not view well on the iPod. I am a HUGE Kirosawa fan and am interested in this film despite the poor reviews. What can I say? The trailer hooked me. I watch most of these films on both my iPod and on TV, but mostly the iPod. Can anyone share there iPod viewing experience? Thank you!
