Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Spain never looked lovelier, but the banal romances of the lightweight principals in this retooled vehicle make the trip wholly unnecessary. – A.H. Weiler, New York Times, Jul 16, 2008

Fresh: As usual in this type of farce, male and female leads have fewer comic lines than supporting players. But Curtis registers exceptionally well when detailing supposed marital problems to adviser. – Variety Staff, Variety, Jul 7, 2010

Rotten: Graceless stuff, criminally wasting Bacall and Fonda as a couple with marital problems (they're in love, but constantly quarrelling), and with Quine's moderate flair for comedy nowhere in evidence. – Tom Milne, Time Out, May 27, 2008

Classic, campy, sexy and fun!

Classic 1960's humor (not 70's as one reviewer mistakenly stated). A fun, flirty, sexy and wild bedroom farce based very loosely on Helen Gurley Brown's best seller by the same name. Tony Curtis and Natalie Wood play rival writers in a battle of the sexes against a backdrop of swinging bachelor pads and feminist independence. Woods and Curtis play superbly off one another and they are perfectly cast in their roles as are the unhappily married, high-ball sluggin Henry Fonda and Lauren Bacall. The humor is indeed dated but the camp-style, which was the popular form in 1964, still plays well for anyone willing to see this gem of a film as a true popular comedy of it's time.

The only thing missing is an appearance by Tony Randall.

You won't regret the purchase or rental of this one unless of course you hate anything made before 2009.

This Movie Is Worth the MONEY!!!!

This is a great classic comedy that I have waited for years to get into my iTunes library. If you want to see Stars there is alot in this movie. I highly recommend this movie to rent or purchase.

Sex and the Single Girl

I don't believe Natalie Wood has ever made a bad movie. Though this movie is from the sixties, it meets today's standards as a great comic romance.
