Plot Summary

Today’s sexual landscape is one of such extremes that Alfred Kinsey would blush. In this age of runaway social media, "sexting," and hardcore pornography at the click of a mouse—what's it like to be a woman? A girl? A teenager? A parent? Chronicling a trio of characters: a12-year-old girl growing into womanhood; a 22-year-old spending thousands on surgery for a top-shelf "designer vagina;" and a retired adult film actress teaching housewives how to pole dance like a pro, Sexy Baby exposes an all too real picture of how this titillating subject is affecting our nation’s women. A FilmBuff Presentation.

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: This scattershot investigation of the effects of Internet pornography on female behavior only ruffles the surface of a complex issue, one that demands a much larger sample than three white, educated women. – Jeannette Catsoulis, New York Times, Oct 18, 2012

Rotten: Unevenly structured, the segments differ greatly in length and relevance. – Ronnie Scheib, Variety, Oct 22, 2012

Fresh: There might be something new to say about sex after all, and it's said in Sexy Baby, a snazzily edited documentary by Jill Bauer and Ronna Gradus. – Marsha McCreadie, Village Voice, Oct 16, 2012

Fresh: This raises more issues than it can possibly consider in depth, but the filmmakers' ambition is admirable, as is their refusal to draw simple conclusions about any of the subjects. – Ben Sachs, Chicago Reader, Jan 22, 2013

Fake Lipstick Feminism at its peurile worst.

Seriously, is this supposed to be some kind of feminist, progressive documentary? These people pretend to be reflective, but they're just perpetuating this *vile* culture. Winnifred's parents are completely neglectful, yuppie-fied, fake pop-feminist idiots. No one interviewed in this documentary has anything smart to say. Sure it's exposing our culture's problems, but it's not saying anything *intelligent* about it or offering any kind of valuable critique. Yes, these idiots are allowing their thirteen-year-olds to dress in fishnets and look at porn, and yes, barely literate "models" are getting vaginaplasties. But what are we to take away from this? Where's the smart commentary? Those poor children. They're already obnoxious and unbearable - I can't imagine what they'll be like when they grow up. Probably like their parents.

Great movie!

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie.

A powerful look at social media and the effects on children...

A powerful look at social media and the effects on children... As well as the internet in general and how it shapes today's young adults' perception of sexuality. The characters are compelling the youngest character featured, Winnifred, in particular as she's a 14 year old and really gives insight on the modern teen age experience. Excellent doc highly recommended!
