Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: You can't miss with a movie that speaks the language of love with such hotblooded delight. And in iambic pentameter, too. – Peter Travers, Rolling Stone, Feb 11, 2014

Fresh: Marc Norman and Tom Stoppard have written one of the year's smartest scripts, and Mrs. Brown director John Madden gets a chance to show a funny side that's previously been submerged. – Mike Clark, USA Today, Feb 11, 2014

Fresh: Accessible, entertaining and fun for modern audiences. Exquisitely acted, tightly directed and impressively assembled, this lively period piece is the kind of arty gem with potentially broad appeal that Miramax certainly knows how to sell. – Lael Loewenstein, Variety, Jul 7, 2010

Fresh: A ripely emotional comedy-fantasia. – David Denby, New Yorker, Feb 24, 2013

Great Movie, Horrible Quality

This is a great movie that is ruined by the quality. It looks like it was copied from a VHS tape. I would rent this before I would buy it from Apple at this quality. I think I know what is going on. I bought it now and 6 months from now, Apple will offer for 19.99 a HD version.

I just do not like it

I don't understand what everyone sees in this movie. It's full of cliches and not even well-acted. This exact movie has been done many times before and will be done better many times after. I would watch something else.

Re: Great Movie, Horrible Quality

I completely agree. It's almost unwatchable--even the title's are blurry. My face began to twitch.

Although, the last scenes are powerful enough to transcend the horror of the picture catastrophe.
