Plot Summary
Set sail for high-seas adventure in the classic Disney tradition as a boy named Hakon embarks on an extraordinary voyage! When his ship is sunk in a hurricane, Hakon ends up alone on a jungle island only to discover his shipmates have been kidnapped by a gang of ruthless pirates. Great Disney Classic
Saw this in the theatres and LOVED it. However, I wish this was in widescreen as it was meant to be.
3.5 Stars (out of 5).... Gabriel Byrne is terrific.
I remember absolutely loving this movie as a kid. For being 20 years-old it really holds it's own. It lacks special effects & over the top theatrics such as in Pirates of the Carribean, but it relies more on character depth & a heartfelt story line. Gabriel Byrne's character & performance are sensational & the sound & filming locations are very enjoyable. I wish itunes would make this available for purchase. Kids & most adults will appreciate this movie, it's a fun adventure film :)
