Plot Summary

It's the night before Christmas, and not a creature is stirring - except for a psycho axe-murderer disguised as Santa. When a small-town sheriff (Malcolm McDowell of ROB ZOMBIE'S HALLOWEEN, TV's FRANKLIN AND BASH) and his deputy (Jaime King of SIN CITY) investigate a horrific mass homicide at a local motel on Christmas Eve, they discover there is a killer Santa Claus on the loose. While the killer is still in the area, the sheriffs run into one problem - nearly every person in town is dressed for the annual Santa costume contest. With the town's body count rising, the race is on to put an end to jolly old St. Nick's murderous rampage. The film is a loose remake of the controversial cult-classic SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT.

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: This brisk reimagining of the 1984 slasher "Silent Night, Deadly Night" delivers the seasonal goods with admirable efficiency and not a little wit. – Jeannette Catsoulis, New York Times, Nov 29, 2012

Fresh: Apart from some modestly inventive carnage and an undeniably humorous hambone turn by Malcolm McDowell, there's really nothing here to make genre fans dash through the snow (or maneuver through traffic) to megaplexes. – Joe Leydon, Variety, Dec 3, 2012

Fresh: The movie's intended audience will likely be satisfied by its parade of gory mayhem, cheap thrills and groan-worthy dark humor. Everyone else: You're on your own. – Gary Goldstein, Los Angeles Times, Nov 30, 2012

Rotten: This unimaginative remake of Silent Night, Deadly Night continues the trend of mediocre remakes of '80s era horror films. – Frank Scheck, Hollywood Reporter, Nov 29, 2012

Good slasher flick

Good movie. Don't go into it thinking its the best horror ever. Worth the watch.

Silent Night AWESOME Night

Absolutely loved this movie, even though I had to force my boyfriend to watch it too, so he could hold my hand. It was a great combination of silly and scary, which I don't think you see in horror movies very often. Malcolm MacDowell was great (love him on Franklin & Bash) and Jaime King was actually pretty good. And that woodchipper scene was crazy. Definitely buying this movie.

Enjoyed it a lot! Strongly recommend it for horror fans.

I like that the film doesn't take itself to seriously and instead focuses on what makes slasher horror films fun. It has really cool kills and each kill raises the bar. Malcolm McDowell was very fun and carried this film all the way.

I highly recommend this movie if your a horror movie fan.
