Plot Summary

It's 1985 and Stevo is that rare animal, a punk rocker in the Mormon stronghold of Salt Lake City, Utah. He just graduated from college with honors and now his life is a nutty roller coaster ride of rock shows, stealing cars, beating up rednecks and non-stop partying with his buddy, Heroin Bob, and his girlfriend. But with the scene getting lame and Stevo going nowhere fast, he has to put his punk ideals to the test. With a choice between "No Future" and Harvard Law School, what's a guy with blue hair supposed to do? Fueled by a classic punk rock soundtrack and hilarious, energetic performances from Matthew Lillard (Scream, She's All That), Michael Goorjian (Leaving Las Vegas, Hard Rain) and Annabeth Gish (Beautiful Girls, Nixon), SLC PUNK is one punk's madcap search for a way to grow up without selling out.

Horribly Realistic!

I saw this film with a fellow over-forty year old punker and we were speachless at this film's dead on aim at our "moment in punk". Though I didn't go to Harvard Law the protagonist's situation was dead on to my life in the second half of the 80's and the choices we faced as the hard-core scene rapidly faded. Check it out and see how bad of a time we were all having; why is this considered a comedy? ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!

Great movie espaclly for people in punk

really good movie sure there's the punk stuff but you don't even have to like punk its about reabllioin and life and how we all grow up and some point in our life

Fantastic Movie!

This movie explores deep into the mind of a young punk, Steve-O. Drawing upon his real life experiences in Salt Lake City in the 80's, Director James Merendino puts forth a brilliant and very realistic story with many rants and thoughts that are common in the punk scene. This is easily one of my favorite movies, and it truly gave me more respect for Matthew Lilard who plays the lead role with such realism. A hidden gem, 10 dollars is more than worth it to place this movie in your collection.
