Plot Summary
Winner of a 2012 Audience Award at Sundance, comedian Mike Birbiglia wrote, directed and stars in this sincere and hilarious film, based on his off-Broadway show and bestselling book. It's also the first movie co-written by Ira Glass and co-produced by "This American Life." The story: when an aspiring stand-up fails to express his true feelings about his girlfriend and his stalled career, his anxiety comes out in increasingly funny and dangerous sleepwalking incidents. SLEEPWALK WITH ME features Lauren Ambrose ("Six Feet Under), Carol Kane ("Taxi"), James Rebhorn ("Meet the Parents"), Cristin Milioti (star of Broadway's "Once"), plus comedians Marc Maron, Kristen Schaal, Wyatt Cenac, Jessi Klein, Henry Phillips and David Wain.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: The semi-autobiographical tale is appealingly low-key and alternately funny and melancholy, informed by Birbiglia's casual delivery.
Fresh: "Sleepwalk With Me's" transition from stage to screen primarily works because Birbiglia continues to carry the weight.
Fresh: The film acts as both a diary of a sidewinding comic stylist finding his style, almost by accident, and a reminder to all post-collegiate boyfriends and girlfriends that "OK" probably isn't good enough for either party.
Rotten: However, there's something ultimately unsatisfying about the experience of listening to stand-up comedian Mike Birbiglia tell the true story of his inability to marry his longtime girlfriend (played by the far-too-hot-to-be-with-him Lauren Ambrose).

A Must-Buy
I first saw this movie back in the beginning of October, and was blown away by how incredibly funny it is. I also did not realize that this was a true story about the man who plays the main part in the film! Overall, it truly is a must buy.

Such an incredible film. I loved it when I first saw it at Sundance thoroughly enjoyed the chance to watch it again at home. VERY funny, VERY heartfelt. A different take on a love story that still plays beautifully. Definitely my favorite film of 2012
Not Stand-Up Comedy Movie / A Movie About Stand-Up Comedians
I watched this movie as a fan of Mike Birbiglia's stand-up and I was expecting more of the same, but I was met with something different. But in a really good way. It was funny, but it was more heartwarming than funny. If you're looking for a stand-up movie, then you may be disappointed. But if you're looking for a good movie about stand-up comedians, then this may be the one for you.
