Plot Summary

Based on his play by the same name, Neil LaBute's script follows a successful writer who, on the eve of his wedding, travels across the country to meet up with ex-lovers in an attempt to make amends for past relationship transgressions. Crisscrossing from Seattle to Boston, he reunites with high school sweetheart Sam, sexually free-spirited Tyler, married college professor Lindsay, his best friend's little sister Reggie, and "the one that got away" Bobbi. A modern-day Candide stumbling through a landscape familiar to most men-messy breakups.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: There are a lot of truthful notes in "Some Girl(s)," but there are also false ones that let you know that you are being played with. You'd best beware. – Stephen Holden, New York Times, Jun 27, 2013

Rotten: The things that once made Neil LaBute's movies seem like tossed grenades - the loutish protagonists, the sadism toward women - now come off as more dated than scandalous. – Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly, Jun 26, 2013

Fresh: Adam Brody strikes a deft balance of purposeful sincerity and sociopathic self-justification in the lead role. – Joe Leydon, Variety, Jun 24, 2013

Fresh: The deft and merciless director sides with the girls, and to stack the deck she's hired five tremendous actresses who thrill to tear poor Brody apart – Amy Nicholson, Los Angeles Times, Jun 30, 2013

ewww!

Ok girls, we've all dealt with this situation, and I'm pretty sure we all feel the same way. - X's who come back months or years later and want to reminisce about what happened, or what could’ve been... Psycho creepy!

This film made my skin crawl.

i am officially a future spinster.

i watched this originally because i love adam brody, and this was listed as a "comedy", so i figured i'd give it a shot.

it. is. not. a. comedy.

unless of course you find sociopathic behavior to be comedic in some twisted, ironic kind of way. in my opinion, this is an indie movie through and through.

aside from the mis-labeling of the genre, the movie seemed to fulfill it's purpose for me. it made me question the character, look for good in him even when it was clear that he was in fact not good, and go through my own sort of let down with him, just as the women in this movie had gone through.

Some Girl(s)

I love this film I have seen it 5 times because there are so many subtle nuances. It is very cerebral and needs several viewing to appreciate the true deep quality of the artists involved. The individual performances by each of the stars are stand out. The performance by Kristen Bell is one of her best.
This is a must see
