Plot Summary

Academy Award and Golden Globe-winner and Emmy-nominee Julia Roberts ("Ocean's Eleven," "Erin Brockovich") stars as Grace, a contemporary Southern wife and mother with the "perfect life." She works for her parents' horse breeding farm, volunteers for the local charity league, and generally speaking, does all the things expected of her by her family and friends. But when she learns that her husband has been unfaithful, Grace suddenly steps back and examines her hustle-and-bustle life from a new perspective, giving her small-town neighbors "something to talk about." For the first time she asks herself what she wants from her life.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Everything about Something to Talk About feels off by a few beats. – Mike Clark, USA Today, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: Something to Talk About is at its best when Khouri's juicy script is adroitly mixing comedy and pathos. – Kenneth Turan, Los Angeles Times, Jan 28, 2006

Rotten: Something to Talk About never goes bad, though it does get corny in places, and it hits a couple of dull patches near the finish. – Mick LaSalle, San Francisco Chronicle, Aug 29, 2002

Rotten: In [Khouri's] zeal to portray a world full of male scum, she creates a morally mismatched, pandering scenario. – Desson Thomson, Washington Post, Aug 29, 2002
