Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: Their 21st-century New York occasionally is frightening but it is rarely convincingly real.
Fresh: Good, solid stuff, assembled efficiently enough to be pretty persuasive.
Fresh: Thanks to Phil Hartman's riotous Saturday Night Live impersonation of Charlton Heston's hysterical detective from Soylent Green, people who've never seen Richard Fleischer's film know its surprise ending.
Fresh: This influential vision of an overpopulated future has a horrific plausibility that's hard to shake off.
Customer Reviews
One of the classics. incredibly inventive!
The only thing i hated about this movie was the fact i already knew the ending going into it. I've always loved Heston, and this movie just bettered my opinion of him. The acting was fantastic. the script would have been one of the best sci-fi scripts if it hadn't been based off a book. Even the opening credits were an achievement! And, of course, the twist is the best i have ever seen. I would highly recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys films and entertainment, especially us sci-fi geeks out there. Buy it. its worth it.
Great movie!
The foresight of global warming is scary. Neat, old movie that I normally wouldn't have watched but was reccommended in a series of health films. Was a really good sci-fi, albeit a little depressing.
I would read 'Make Room, Make Room!" as well.
While this is a great piece of period distopia science fiction, it's based on a novel by Harry Harrison that you might enjoy as well.
