Plot Summary
Retired secret agent Marissa Cortez Wilson (Jessica Alba of LITTLE FOCKERS) is enjoying a new life of domestic bliss, with a loving husband (Joel McHale of TV's COMMUNITY), a newborn, and two adoring stepkids...who really hate her guts. But just as she's focusing on keeping her family happy, Marissa's world is turned upside-down when the maniacal Timekeeper (Jeremy Piven of TV's ENTOURAGE) threatens to take over the planet. She's called back into action by the head of OSS, home of the now-defunct Spy Kids division. When Marissa's stepkids learn she was once a super-cool secret agent, they suddenly don't think she's so boring. With a little help from former Spy Kids Carmen (Alexa Vega of FROM PRADA TO NADA) and Juni Cortez (Daryl Sabara of the SPY KIDS franchise), Marissa just might be able to save the world and possibly bring her family together at the same time.

HOW TO COMPLETELY RUIN A FRANCHISE!
When I saw the first "Spy Kids" movie ten years ago as a little kid, it immediately became one of my personal favorite films of all time. The two lead actors (Alexa Vega and Daryl Sabara) were perfectly cast, the premise was fresh and unique, and the special effects were truly one of a kind. Not to mention the flick boasted the perfect blend of heart-pounding action and slapstick humor. It was THE perfect family film to say the least.
The much-anticipated sequel, "The Island of Lost Dreams", was far from disappointing and just as memorable as the first. The stakes were much higher and the spy antics were even crazier. However, when the third movie ("Game Over") was released, that's when the franchise took a turn for the worse. The story was uninspired and the "3D" effects were lazily put together. But hey, at least it wasn't as big of a bomb as "All the Time In the World", which hopelessly attempted to revive the popular film series and failed on a massively epic scale. How bad was it, you may ask? Let me explain.
From one glance of the trailer, I just knew "Spy Kids 4" wasn't gonna be as fun-spirited as the original, but I decided to give it a chance nonetheless. Boy, was that a huge mistake! Where do I even begin? For starters, I didn't mind the fact that the old Spy Kids were replaced by two newcomers (Rowan Blanchard and Mason Cook), but did they really have to act without any emotion whatsoever? The whole time, it was like I was watching a couple of mindless, soulless robots reciting their lines and performing their stunts exactly as they were told, with virtually no passion at all. It didn't help that they came across as selfish, egotistical brats. In addition, the movie had a completely incomprehensible plot, the villain (played by "Entourage's" Jeremy Piven out of all people) and his backstory were stupid beyond belief, and there were way too many immature poop, pee, and fart jokes to count. And don't even get me started on that crappy "Aroma-Scope" technology! Oh, and did I forget to mention this film features Jessica Alba on an espionage mission as a pregnant woman about to go into labor and an annoying robot dog with the voice of Ricky Gervais? Simply pathetic!
Perhaps the only saving grace for this flick was the fact that Vega and Sabara returned to reprise the very roles that made them stars in the first place, but even their mediocre performances couldn't save it from being a complete and utter travesty. You know, the only reason I even saw "All the Time In the World" was so that maybe, just maybe, I could recapture the magic I felt when I watched the original movie for the first time. Oh, how foolish I was. Please, if you haven't seen "Spy Kids 4" already, I beg of you not to rent (let alone buy) it, even for your children. I sincerely hope no one else will have to suffer the pain I felt while watching this dreck. I don't see why it even had to be made to begin with. The franchise was already dead. I guess it only had to take one more film to nail the coffin shut. Thanks a lot, Robert Rodriguez.

A great cast amd totally awesome family movie!!
A stellar cast all the way from Joel MxHale (Community), Jessica Alba (Sin City, Good Luck Chuck, Little Fockers, Honey), and others were extremely entertaining throughout the entire film. Even the cameraman/ producer, that accompanies Joel McHale throughout most of the film (actor Wray Crawford), was a joy ro watch. This movie is a definitely must-see! I know you and your family would definitely enjoy this film!
