Plot Summary

In this genre-bending “Glee”-meets-Rocky Horror musical comedy, a starry-eyed teenager (Allie MacDonald) wants to follow in her mother's (Minnie Driver) footsteps and become a Broadway diva; instead, she's stuck working in the kitchen of her step-father's (Meat Loaf Aday) snobby performing arts camp. Determined to change her destiny, she sneaks in to audition for the summer showcase landing the lead role. However, just as rehearsals begin, blood starts to spill, and Camilla finds herself terrorized by a homicidal masked killer.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Give the movie some zip, a few memorable songs and a stronger third act, and (to paraphrase Mr. Sondheim) something good's just out of reach. – Ben Kenigsberg, New York Times, May 8, 2014

Rotten: This horror musical has about 20 comically inspired minutes before devolving into increasingly moribund genre-spoofing territory. – Andrew Barker, Variety, May 8, 2014

Rotten: Likely to inspire much exiting stage left and right. – Robert Abele, Los Angeles Times, May 15, 2014

Rotten: Playing like a very special slasher film-themed episode of Glee, Stage Fright mixes horror and Broadway-style show tunes to decidedly mixed results. – Frank Scheck, Hollywood Reporter, May 8, 2014

Very entertaining

Very entertaining movie. I gave it 4 stars mainly for the plot and idea behind it. As far a a slasher film? Could have been better... I wish it had been scarier (that said, I did jump out of my seat at one part), and the masked killer's music sucked, but oh well.
The music, acting, story were all amazing. The opening number at the Musical Theater Camp alone was worth the watch. Looking forward to see what more this director has in him!

a really fun, inventive horror flick

This movie works as old-school, fun slasher horror movie, and a really hilarious musical at the same time - it's an original. Think "Scream" meets "Glee" - if that sounds like fun to you, this will be an all time favorite.

Weird, but amazing...

I dis not know that this was a musical when I rented it and when they started singing I was floored. This movie confused my emotions, but when it was over, I had an overall feeling that I really enjoyed it. If you like horror musicals, this is for you. If you hate musicals don’t even start this. I love this movie. Will buy it when it’s available.
