Plot Summary

Meet Elise (Amy Adams) and Michael (Adam Garcia), the perfect couple who have been dating seemingly forever. Unlike most young couples, they have everything one can wish for – a beautiful house, an upcoming wedding, and a crew of close friends, all coming into Lost Angeles for the weekend nuptials. As they each arrive at the house, joyouse reunions quickly turn into awkward meetings that bring up both sweet and painful memories.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: The aptly named Standing Still, about postcollegiate 20-somethings, has the dramatic momentum of a daisy-picking toddler. – Jeannette Catsoulis, New York Times, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: Surfing the crowd in Altman-lite style, pic skims the surface entertainingly but goes limp in its stabs at seriousness. – Justin Chang, Variety, Jul 7, 2010

Rotten: Standing Still wants to be an honest, earnest look at the difficulties of growing up and moving on, but it remains stuck in such a fantasy-laden milieu that the characters never feel particularly real, and their problems seem phony and arbitrary. – Mark Olsen, Los Angeles Times, Sep 20, 2007

Fresh: This is a hit and miss romantic comedy with a few solid laughs and some pretty smart dialogue. – Richard Roeper, Ebert & Roeper, Jun 24, 2010
