Plot Summary
An emotional powerhouse with star-studded performances, this festival favorite is one of the most unexpectedly moving and emotionally charged films of the year. Inspired by real life characters, the film tells the story of Stanley Myer, a down on his luck musician with a lifetime of failed relationships, but one very big dream: to play his ukulele on a cruise line to Hawaii. Stanley lands a gig at a nursing home where he strikes up an unlikely relationship with an ancient jazz chanteuse, Eleanor, and awakens from a lifetime of loneliness and inconsequence. Events unfold that not only help him discover who he is, but eventually change the course of his life. Emmy and Golden Globe multi-award nominee Marla Gibbs delivers another powerhouse performance, and Faye Dunaway shows off her talent in one of the most understated roles of her career.
