Plot Summary

Staying Alives takes Saturday Night Fever’s Tony Manero out of Brooklyn to Broadway. As a wannabe dancer struggling to make it on the stage, John Travolta is at his sexy, sizzling best. Girl-next-door Cynthia Rhodes (Flashdance, Dirty Dancing) and vampy Finola Hughes (General Hospital, All My Children) compete for Tony’s heart. Co-written and directed by superstar Sylvester Stallone, Staying Alive features an electrifying Bee Gees soundtrack and some of the most memorable dance sequences ever staged on screen.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: A sequel with no understanding of what made its predecessor work. – Janet Maslin, New York Times, Feb 25, 2009

Rotten: As always Travolta is urban gorgeous and very charming. The rest of the film is neither. – Richard Corliss, TIME Magazine, Jul 24, 2014

Rotten: The bottom line is that Staying Alive is nowhere as good as its 1977 predecessor, Saturday Night Fever. – Variety Staff, Variety, Jul 7, 2010

Rotten: A slick, commercial cinematic jukebox, a series of self-contained song-and-dance sequences that could be cut apart and played forever on MTV -- which is probably what will happen. – Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times, Jul 7, 2010

Worst movie ever!!!

This is a very intresting movie for many diffrent reasons. First off, it is the worst movie of all time in every catagory(acting, writing, directing, music, etc.). And I'm not even exaggerating. But the thing about this is that it's so bad, you HAVE to see it. Everything is so terrible, that I couldn't stop laughing during it. It is also an intresting movie because of what came before it. It is the sequal to a classic movie in Saturday Night Fever which makes it all even more funny. Also making this bombshell of a movie even MORE funny is the man who wrote and directed it. Sylvester Stallone is one of the most famous actors ever. Him writing and directing this movie is the icing on the cake. Try to picture a movie that is so incredably bad that it just has to be watched. There is not one good scene in this movie. NOT ONE! The fact that someone even came up with the idea for this movie is beyond my imagination. But I have to admit, Staying Alive is the worst movie of all time, but it's definatly not my least favorite.

Stayin Alive....

A film not worthy sharing it's name with Saturday Night Fever; it is a film that ceases to include anything that made SNF what it is today.

I love it!

I love this movie, it's fun! The music is great and this is just one of my fave movies of the 80's.
