Plot Summary
Something is killing off townsfolk in Tarker's Mills. Something mysterious. Something ingenious. Something remotely human. But the only person in town with courage to stop this lurking menace is a 13-year-old boy, confined to a wheelchair since birth. Adapted to the screen by suspense master Stephen King from his "Cycle of the Werewolf" novelette, this exhilarating thriller features astounding special effects by three-time Oscar® winner Carlo Rambaldi ("E.T.," "Alien," "King Kong").

Really a great horror film!
This is a film that never really got the respect I think it deserved. It truly is a great horror film, one of the best adaptations from a Stephen King book (script penned by King himself), and also one of the very best WEREWOLF movies ever made. And I am a TRUE werewolf afficionado. Corey Haim stars as a young boy restricted to a wheelchair, so we automatically not only feel sorry for him, but way more scared for him when the monster comes, as he's completely helpless. The film focusses on the relationships between him and his sister, and his uncle Red (played brilliantly by Gary Busy).
The characters are all real and likeable; you root for them and you care about them. The twist as to the identity of the werewolf is an original take, and creates a new, disturbing look at the psychology of the beast. Excellent excellent score, and of course, a great looking werewolf with well executed make-up transformations... Why this movie never got its just respect is beyond me. Maybe if the brother and sister were older and it was SEXIER (like Lost Boys), it would have made a bigger impact. But I will say this: Corey Haim has starred in one of the all-time best vampire films, The Lost Boys, and one of the all-time best werewolf films, Silver Bullet.
My hat's off to you Corey. Rest in peace brother.
It's a great movie despite the silly looking werewolf
Stephen King has always been awesome when it comes to writing horror. His films are great as well (The Shining, Maximum Overdrive......with some AC/DC, It, and The Mist). However, I would like to point out one of his greatest films.....Silver Bullet! It's great! Even though the werewolf suit looks kind of goofy (it looks like a German Shepherd crossed with a bear), but at least it looks a Hell of alot better than the Twilight werewolves! (Seriously, what's wrong with this picture? That series is so stupid that Ed Wood would puke and Uwe Boll would give it two thumbs up. But yet there is a fanbase for this nonsense?! I am afraid for this generation). If you hate the Twilight series, like werewolf movies, like Steven King's books and movies, and can handle the goofy werewolf suit then I recommend that you check this movie out.
The moons mood
This is one of those movies that you get in the mood to watch. I bought it for my iPhone because I couldn't wait to get back from my buddies house to watch it and he'd never seen it. That being said, if you haven't seen this, save yourself the rental fee and just buy it. It was an excellent movie then and it still is. Gary busey truly gives a warming performance as uncle red. And it's" Holy jumped up bald headed palamino!"
