Superb Character Study

In only a few minutes, we see what seems to be an eccentric man become something more? Nothing is stated outright, but Colin Firth displays a multitude of levels in a few short scenes. Is Steve the neighbor from hell to a nice couple, played by Keira Knightley and Tom Mison? Is he simply a lonely, disturbed man, disconnected from humanity, reaching out to people who have very little humanity to share? His frustration slowly develops into an angry, fearful outburst, shocking in its suddenness.
Rupert Friend has created a complex little piece with one of the finest actors of any generation as the centerpiece. He creates a sense of unease amidst the banality of simply sharing tea in an environment that seems at once normal, but also slightly off-kilter.
Certainly worth the $1.99 to see, anyalyze, and watch again.

Terrific

A tailor made role for Colin Firth as an increasingly unstable downstairs neighbor, reminiscent of some of his prior eccentric roles (think Adrian, Ben, Aston). And just short enough to let you decide for yourself if Steve is funny, quirky, endearing or menacing. I still can't decide, but he's a character who won't leave my memory.

Fab Fab Fab - with Keira, Colin and Rupert

Great to see stellar feature and Academy award winning actors in short films. This is a mesmerizing and kind of shocking film in a fraction of the time of a feature film. I don't want to give anything away, but it's a definite recommend!
