Plot Summary

From the writer of Bring It On comes Stick It, the fun, irreverent comedy that turns the competitive world of gymnastics on its head. After walking out on her teammates at the gymnastics championships two years before, the talented but rebellious Haley Graham is forced to return to the rigid world of rules, catfights, and spandex. Her in-your-face attitude quickly collides with her hard-nosed coach and teammates. But as her love of the sport resurfaces, Haley slowly earns their respect by doing what she does best -- tossing out the rules. And in the process, she learns there are more valuable things to win in life than medals and ribbons.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: The use of the prim but rigorous world of women's gymnastics as a setting for teen rebellion is so strained it leaves the pic's ode to personal authenticity feeling as phony as a dubious decision by a competition judge. – Robert Koehler, Variety, Jul 7, 2010

Rotten: Stick It is a melodrama that doesn't know when to turn off the waterworks. – Wesley Morris, Boston Globe, Nov 24, 2011

Rotten: Stick It doesn't have an original bone in its buffed body. It's been molded from all the sports-as-salvation movies that Bring It On so adroitly spoofed. – Terry Lawson, Detroit Free Press, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: There is a positive message in the film, often obscured by the bogus punk attitude. – Peter Howell, Toronto Star, Jun 24, 2010

THIS MOVIE IS BRILLIANT

Okay, when you hear "director of Bring It On" you get a specific picture of what this movie is gonna be like. Well, THIS isn't it. Stick It REALLY truly does show what a teenager's life is all about, and how the mind of a teenage girl who isn't exactly sure of where her life is going, really works. (which is like MANY girls out there) It also has a very good moral of becoming DRIVEN, which is a very hard thing to do. But best of all, this movie has some butt-kickin', rockin' girls who just inspire the rest of us, and it's just a feel good kinda movie.

Previews Are Misleading!

I know that the previews for this movie lead everyone to believe that it was just another teen movie with little or no substance, but that is so wrong. This movie really surprised me when I saw it- I started crying at one of the emotional scenes, which I hardly ever do, because it was so realistic, not in the least bit cheesy or melodramatic. There are some pretty amazing scenes in here with kalaidescope-like special effects that make the movie that much more interesting. This movie really brings you into the plot; every time the gymnasts perform you're nervous for them. Their routines and the results from them aren't predictable at all- you really don't know whether they're going to do well or not, unlike some movies where you can either tell right away or don't even care. Seriously, you need to watch this movie, it's a great story that the previews don't do any justice to.

fab teen night movie!!!

OMG well this is a perfect movie to watch at a friday night sleepover with your girlfriends and stuff- it is not only a funny movie with a great plot and good acting, but it also has a message that can inspire all of us to step out of our comfort zone and try something new!
