Plot Summary
“Stripped” is a feature-length documentary on comic strips, how they’re created, and the people behind them - featuring the first-ever recorded interview with Bill Watterson of Calvin & Hobbes. The film sits down with over 60 of the world’s best cartoonists to talk about comic strips, where the art form’s going, and what happens to it as newspapers die and digital takes off. Featured interviews include: Cathy Guisewite (Cathy), Lynn Johnston (For Better or For Worse), Mort Walker (Beetle Bailey), Mike & Jerry (Penny Arcade), Matt Inman (The Oatmeal), Kate Beaton (Hark! A Vagrant) and Patrick McDonnell (Mutts). Set to original music by Stefan Lessard of Dave Matthews Band, the film is a must-see for comics fans.

This is an awesome film.
Ever have one of those experiences where you start a movie just to get a taste then intend to watch the rest later, only to then DEVOUR the whole thing in one rapt sitting? STRIPPED did that for me. If you're a fan of comics at all, this film will make you remember why you love them. It's PACKED with interviews from so many cartoon artists the end credits is a movie in itself. The film is not just a loving tribute, but also an exhaustive study on the creative process, the dwindling role of newspapers and why, also how the internet is revolutionizing comics in how they're read as well as how that's creating a new dawn for these artists.
The 1992 video game parody on how to make money from cartooning is worth the price of the film alone.
The pace is blisteringly fast and never lags. From beginning to end you can feel the love for its subject matter and the people who create them.
I absolutely loved it and would watch it again in a heartbeat. Very, very well done.
Inspirational
This film is a great inspiration to every aspiring artist out there. There are problems in the industry to be sure, but the modern world can be adapted to and hearing the voices of some of the greats in the cartooning industry encouraging you on can only inspire and inform and help to move us all forward. Keep this on heavy rotation in the background while you draw and let the creative fire rage!
A Whole New (& Old) World
Stripped is about comics: classic newspaper strips and web comics, where it all began and where it’s been and where it’s going. It’s funny, sad, upbeat, downbeat, told by the men and women who create the most public of art. I loved this movie almost as much as I love its subject. Worth every penny I paid.
