Plot Summary

Mena Suvari (American Beauty) unforgettably stars as Brandi, a hard-partying, overworked nursing assistant in this delicious, darkly humorous psychological thriller from director Stuart Gordon (Re-Animator, From Beyond). Brandi accidentally steers her car into a homeless man, movingly played by Stephen Rea (The Crying Game), sending him flying through the windshield. Not wanting to jeopardize a possible job promotion, she chooses not to get him medical help, leaving him clinging to life in her garage. But soon her psyche begins to unravel as captor and captive are pitted against each other in a bloody...even outrageous battle for survival. Director Stuart Gordon delivers what Variety called "ingeniously nasty and often shockingly funny entertainment."

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Stuck is a shot at making a cult film that doesn't quite come off, which is too bad because Gordon is an intriguing filmmaker whose work is worth a look. – Walter V. Addiego, San Francisco Chronicle, Oct 18, 2008

Fresh: A quick and nasty social satire that comes with the 'inspired by a true story' avowal, Stuck melds horror and humor as it offers a literally lacerating portrait of humankind at its worst. – Steven Rea, Philadelphia Inquirer, Jun 6, 2008

Fresh: Deliciously twisted and divinely ill, Stuck does everything a good horror movie should: It contrasts the insane and the mundane, it reflects the social condition, and it offers jolt after jolt of gory surprise. – Tom Long, Detroit News, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: There's no shortage of scenes that you'll watch through your fingers, groaning -- but you'll watch all the same. – Bill Goodykoontz, Arizona Republic, Jun 24, 2010

Not Terrible, buuuut....

...bizarre. Nicely acted by both leads but it just feels like this movie never really had to be made. It's based on an extremely interesting story but the pace is SO off. Don't buy, maybe rent. Partially tense, but really not that much happens here folks.

A wild story that will make you marvel (and laugh out loud) at the depravity of human nature

This movie may not be for everyone, but it is for anyone who really enjoys a unique plot--something rare in modern cinema. This story is a wild ride supported by excellent acting. Yes this movie can accurately be described as disturbing (especially since it's based on a true story), but it simultaneusly also succeeds in being comedic, audacious and best of all compelling. And ultimately this is what we movie-watchers want--COMPELLING!

The first real movie I've seen in a long time.

It's not epic, it may not become a cult classic, but by god it's a decent flick in a time when there are few decent flicks! It's suspenseful, intriguing, and really made me cringe with just the right amount of gore. It's really in a class by itself when compared to the typical hollywood drivel.
