Plot Summary
A small-town minor league baseball player from the "wrong side of the tracks," struggling to make sense of his life, falls in love with a wealthy girl in this modernized take on "Romeo and Juliet." Eventually he must decide between his burgeoning baseball career and his new love. Rotten: Stars Freddie Prinze Jr. (strike one), features more male virgins trying to lose it (strike two) and disses the legendary baseball league in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, by filming this mess in North Carolina (strike three).
Rotten: The interplay of Ryan's professional and romantic challenges rings true, but unfortunately the writers pile on contrivances and needless distractions that seriously diminish the film's overall effect.
Rotten: Depending wholly upon the blinkered empathy of daydreamy teen viewers, a typical FPJ movie skims over character, plot, and dialogue.
Rotten: Maybe the filmmakers figured that the audience for Summer Catch is too young to have seen Bull Durham.

Cape Cod??
My question is did the director and staff do any research before shooting this mess? This couldn't possibly be any less like the Cape and the prestigious league. Next time you make a movie why don't you spend sometime there and figure it out 1st. Oh for your info. you have to be "Enrolled" in a university to participate in the first place.
Amazing Movie!
To anybody who thought this movie was bad you have serious mental issues. This movie is great! I don't take critics word for movies ever and neither should you. Heck don't believe what I'm saying about it just go watch the thing for yourself and use your brain to form your own opinion. Be a big kid for once.
Guilty Pleasure
