Fresh: Sweet Smell, which could have been offal, is raised to considerable dramatic heights by intense acting, taut direction (by Alexander Mackendrick), [and] superb camera work (by James Wong Howe). – TIME Magazine, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: James Hill's production, locationed in Manhattan, captures the feel of Broadway and environs after dark. – Variety Staff, Variety, Jul 7, 2010

Fresh: The main incentive to see this movie is its witty, pungent and idiomatic dialogue, such as you never hear on the screen anymore in this age of special-effects illiteracy. – Andrew Sarris, New York Observer, Jun 24, 2010

Sweet Smell Of Success

Thank you so very, very much ITunes for finally making available this iconic trip into the dark beast of show business in NYC of the fifties. Burt Lancaster rules but the true spotlight shines on Tony Curtis who proved his considerable acting chops. So worthy of purchase.

thrilled!

Was it thanks to Martin Scorcese that this was re-released to much acclaim a decade ago? In any case I saw it then and loved it. Thrilled that it is here in iTunes and I am downloading as I type :) Thanks, guys!

Sweet Smell of success

Two film giants Burt Lancaster and Tony Curtis!

In real life, they were well-behaved gentlemen. That's what makes this film perfect.

A dark movie and the viewer will have to see it through a psychological lens.

Lancaster's performance as a man with his media empire who also has a pathological dominance over his sister. Curtis' performance as a man who wants to win at any cost.

Spectacular acting, directing, storyline, cinematography and everything!
