Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: Mumbly dialogue, relentlessly jittery camerawork, a star who is also co-director and co-writer: Yes, it's time for another movie that mistakes the claustrophobic world of young New York artsy types for something interesting.
Rotten: An art-versus-commerce drama that consists of one beautifully aching performance surrounded by a whole lotta twee.
Fresh: Such a concise expression of theme ought to be appreciated -- it betrays an elegance of construction scarcely seen in likeminded indie comedies.
Fresh: It subtly counteracts the cliche that creative expression can save your life by making its protagonist a hipster Peter Pan whose creative expression is an excuse not to grow up.

Artists in NYC with a French POV
I think this movie is a Rorshach test — depending on where your sensibilities lie, you will empathize with either the committed-to-an-artistic-life Leeward or his more pragmatic, sensible wife, Mary. Swim Little Fish Swim wrestles with the realities of adulthood and how they don’t always allow for the pursuit of one’s dreams. It’s a quirky and moving film, with a lot of freshness and light.
So refreshing!
I had seen this film in SXSW, it was one of the highlight of the festival. Happy to see it's finally reaching iTunes! This film is a great ode to artists' freedom, the difficulty to move abroad and the joy in life despite some broken dreams. This film will make you smile all the way through it. Get it asap!

I had the opportunity to watch this movie at the Jewish Film Festival in San Francisco, and I loved it! It’s a small little hem, very refreshing and arty! It reminded me of the New Wave. I would definately recommend it!
