Plot Summary

Fresh out of school with a degree in marketing, “Scat” will do anything to prove that he has what it takes. Armed with a brilliant product concept that gives new meaning to the old saying “sex sells,” he only has to convince his boss, the beautiful and mysterious “6,” that it’s an idea worth millions. The road to success isn’t an easy one, even with a million dollar idea, and Scat soon discovers that image and deception just might be his undoing.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: The story works hard for winking relevance. But this dark lark is like walking around Times Square looking at the flashy logos and lights and thinking you see the message behind the medium. – Joe Neumaier, New York Daily News, Jun 6, 2013

Rotten: The actors are young and beautiful, the soundtrack kicks and the camera zips around with precision. But the script never seems to match the carefully orchestrated mood. – Stephanie Merry, Washington Post, Jun 27, 2013

Rotten: Syrup is an unsatisfying blend of romantic comedy and scathing social satire, slamming the high-stakes games of product marketing and sales. – Bruce Demara, Toronto Star, Jul 11, 2013

Lively, funny, and poignant

This is a terrific movie, and frankly much better than the book. It is fast paced and highly entertaining. I recommend it unreservedly.

Cup of awesome, with a side of wicked cool

I loved this book and was a little wary of the movie, as filmed adaptations seem to lack. But i was so wrong. This movie captures what i loved about about the book and expounded on it. Sexy, funny, smart, edgy - a brilliant realization. Great filmmaking.

Hooked!

Totally captures the characters HUMAN basic needs and shows them through the world of advertising!!
