Plot Summary

Marilyn Vine's (Andie MacDowell) idyllic life in Connecticut is devastated by the tragic death of her only son Dale during his 15th birthday party. 3,000 miles away, Ria Lynch's (Olivia Williams) marriage comes to a stunningly abrupt end in Dublin, Ireland, when husband Danny (Iain Glen) reveals that he is leaving her for his pregnant mistress, Bernadette (Heike Makatsch). An accidental phone call brings these two otherwise unrelated women together and, in their mutual need for space and time alone, they agree to a two-month house exchange. In swapping homes, both women slowly find healing and strength through new surroundings and the kindness of others, and gradually learn to accept the reality of their changed lives.

Tara Road

Movies made from books are rarely as good as their literary counterpart. This is no exception. Clunky dialogue. Lack of an emotional connection with the audience. Lack of emotional connection between characters. Scene transition is harsh, you may have no idea what is going on if you have not already read the book. The actress who portrayed Ria did a nice job, I may look for her in other films. Overall, don't rent this film, go, run, to your nearest library and read this one.

Weird

The plot was spastic and confusing. The characters didn't develop well, and the whole flow of the movie just seemed somewhat off. The acting was decent, but the script made it too cheesy to watch. While there were a few good lines or quality lessons, the overall feel was just awkward and directionless.

I would say probably not worth renting and definitley not worth buying.

not good

confusing, jarred, no flow, trit....not good! locations beautiful though.
