Plot Summary

The year is 2039. The world wars have destroyed everything and territories are run by corporations, the mightiest of which is TEKKEN. In the midst of the ruined society, one warrior rises from the streets. A young man with street smarts and raw fighting skills, who is driven by nothing more than vengeance, must defeat the world’s most elite fighters in the greatest tournament ever known to become the “King of Iron Fist.” Directed by Dwight H. Little (HALLOWEEN 4: THE RETURN OF MICHAEL MYERS) and starring former world champion kick boxer Gary Daniels (THE EXPENDABLES), Ian Anthony Dale (TV's THE EVENT), MMA fighters Cung Le and Roger Huerta, and world champion of Tae Kwon Do Anton Kasabov.

Been a fan of all the tekkens

For a video game movie that went straight to video......I liked it

Great movie

One of the best movies I have seen this year 5 stars

Better then I expected

When it comes to video game movies I don't expect much. When it comes to fighting game movies, I expect even less... but I was pleasantly surprised by this movie. The plot although a twist of the Tekken universe, stays true to the basic premise of the Tekken 3 storyline. The plot was easy to follow, without taking any drastic twists that starts to make the moviing convuluted and confusing. Not saying that a complex movie is bad, but video game movies usually mess up trying to become complex and end up being a jumbled mess. They played it safe here.

It isn't a 5 star rating or 4 star, since there were awkward points in the movie, such as the scene where Kazuya is having his way with the William sisters. It seemed a bit out of place in the way the scene was introduced and could have been done better... but it did establish Kazuya as a sexual deviant, which is a point that is reinforced later in the movie.

Also the Mishima bloodline seemed rushly explained at the end of the movie, just for the sake of mentioning, which led me with a long "Ooookay, gotcha cheif!"

And a few other points, as a fan of the video game series, would like to have seen more of:

Heihachi doesn't actually fight in the movie
Anna Williams doesn't have a tournement fight
Christie Montero doesn't use capoeira in the movie although if you watch closely you can see some of her moves are influenced by capoeira.
Bryan Fury's weakness exploit wasn't very clear and damage taken from previous fights seem to disappear on him.
I think the corporation Christie represents was misannounced. They said metrocorp, but earlier they had a corp that started with a V.
The ending was a bit abrupt. Although it did wrap it up, it could have had that extra 5 to 10 seconds to make it perfect, but it just ends.
The cliffhanger after the credits had the same problem from above. It was a bit abrupt, although it did get its message across.
Heihachi's hair. ... REALLY?!?!? I know that in the video game series his hair does look like that, but that is somewhere the movie could have used an artistic provision... instead of going straight up awkward pointy hair.

However I did enjoy:

Raven. They couldn't have had a better actor.
Eddy Gordo by Lateef Crowder is PERFECT!
The premise of the story where the world is ruled by corporations after governments fail and how the general idea of the story follows the video game series pretty close.
I did enjoy some of the fight scenes although it does go bloodsport/rocky all of a sudden and the main protagonist goes hercules all of a sudden on their enemy after getting pummeled to a bloody pulp.

Overall I give this movie a 3/5. If you are a fan of the series give it a watch and share your opinion. If you are not a fan of the series, give it a rent. Maybe it'll get you into the series :).
