Plot Summary
In Columbia Pictures' The Karate Kid, 12-year-old Dre Parker (Jaden Smith) could've been the most popular kid in Detroit, but his mother's (Taraji P. Henson) latest career move has landed him in China. Dre immediately falls for his classmate Mei Ying - and the feeling is mutual - but cultural differences make such a friendship impossible. Even worse, Dre's feelings make an enemy of the class bully, Cheng. In the land of kung fu, Dre knows only a little karate, and Cheng puts "the karate kid" on the floor with ease. With no friends in a strange land, Dre has nowhere to turn but maintenance man Mr. Han (Jackie Chan), who is secretly a master of kung fu. As Han teaches Dre that kung fu is not about punches and parries, but maturity and calm, Dre realizes that facing down the bullies will be the fight of his life.

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: It's not as good as the 1984 version. I say that not just out of nostalgia, but because I think that that was a more satisfying drama.
Fresh: The Karate Kid 2010 is a thoughtful and professionally executed remake, retaining everything that really mattered about the original -- specifically the sincere relationship between the young protege and his mentor.
Fresh: There's life in this franchise yet.
Fresh: Smith might be the focus, but while he's got the charisma and the moves, it's Chan who makes it punch above its weight. Nice scenery too.

Karate Kid!
The movie is brilliant! Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan are great actors! Overall I'd say it was probably the one of the best movies I've ever seen. Recommended to people of all ages.
LOVE IT
I am a 13 year old girl I went to see this in theatres with my dad we both loved it!! Totally worth buying!
It's a Great Movie, so shut up, you haters! (P.S. You know who you are)
First off, I know it's hard to top the original Karate Kid. But this film is pretty good. At least in this film, Jackie Chan certainly did better as Mr. Han (a.k.a. Chinese Mr. Myagi) than he did in "The Spy Next Door". Jaden Smith (while he's no Ralph Macchio) can be able to hold his own on-screen. Plus, I thought the music was epic. My only gripes are the major nods to the original are either drastically altered into stupid twists or ommited entirely. I mean, "jacket on, jacket off" and no "You're the Best" song? How disappointing. Nonetheless, it's a good family film, and all those who disagree (while they're entitled to their own opinion) could (wait for it...) GET THEMSELVES A BODYBAG!! YEAHHHH!!!!
