Plot Summary

Screen idol and Academy Award-winning superstar Mel Gibson ("Maverick," "Lethal Weapon" series) stars in this mythical futuristic tale from writer-director George Miller ("The Witches of Eastwick"). In this boxoffice winner and critical phenomenon, Mad Max joins forces with nuclear holocaust survivors to defend an oil refinery under siege from a ferocious, marauding horde that plunders the land for gasoline. The winner of five Australian Film Institute Awards, Newsweek calls this a "sensational slam-bang end-of-the-world picture." The New York Times says it's "an extravagant film fantasy...action packed...[and] extremely witty." "One of the year's 10 best," raves Time Magazine. Followed by "Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome" in this enormously successful film series.

Where Mel Gibson was born!

An outstanding action film that kicked off the 80's. This sequel is what truly developed the Mad Max movies into a remarkable trilogy. This movie set a great standard for action movies for years to come.

Most incredible action scenes

This movie has some of the most incredible action stunt scenes ever filmed, even to this day. Obviously before CGI, the car chases, editing and cinematography of this movie are worth not just renting but owning...they just don't make them like this anymore! This is the middle (and best, IMHO) offering of the Mad Max trilogy. It involves a still relevant world issue (gas), unique characters (Gyro Captain, Humongous, Feral Kid), moral dilemma (needs of one vs many), and the world's most kick-arse car (last of the V-8 Interceptors...been a shame to blow her up!!). If you like your sci-fi intense and action-packed, then this non-stop classic is the best. The last 15 minutes will blow you away! "You can run but you can't hide"...from an awesome movie experience!!

Great Classic

The movie is one of my all time favorites. I am tired of only having the option to rent. I would give itunes a lot more business if they would give the option to buy the movies
