Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: There are a lot of good things.
Fresh: The Norman Jewison film tells a crackerjack story, well-tooled, professionally crafted and fashioned with obvious meticulous care.
Rotten: Possibly the most under-plotted, underwritten, over-photographed film of the year.
Fresh: It's worth noting that 30 years and dozens of caper films later, the closing twist isn't nearly as startling as it once was, but it still makes for an effective conclusion.

The Original...
I love this original version of the Thomas Crawn Affair. Steve McQueen was a great actor and a favorite of my Father. Get this version and then get the newer version. Most people tend to like the 'original version' they see over the newer re-makes; but get both and decide for yourself.
EXCELLENT Shots
The credits, the layout of scenes on the screen... It's well done. See? Faye Dunaway was quite gorgeous. This movie also has THE MAN in it...STEVE MCQUEEN! The ultimate leading man who was also a man's man! Not a pretty boy... Not a frou-frou... The original has a cooler ending. This is why it was neat to see Dunaway in the remake. Her outfits are too cool in this film. Sit back--and enjoy the ride!
excellent!
I love the music in this film. Drastically different storyline from the latest, but filmed and told in a unique and brilliant way. I don't remember any reason for the R rating, it's a fairly clean film. It is best when watched without any comparison to the newer version. A classic movie that deserves at least one viewing by every movie lover.
