Plot Summary

Rotten: The affectionate loopiness that once seemed congenital to Demme's perspective has a tough time emerging from between the badly dated cutesy-pie mystery scenario and the newfangled Hollywood post-production effects.
Rotten: It's a forgery that diminishes not only the originality and pleasure of the film it copies, but also the entire school of filmmaking it wants to emulate.
Rotten: At once listless and overheated, giddy and utterly zipless.

Great film... IT IS NOT A THRILLER.
This is a great movie if you do not expect the original AND do not read into Apple's/Universal's incorrect "thriller" genre specification. THIS FILM BELONGS IN A MYSTERY GENRE. The film does have some comedic, dramatic, and thrilling elements added in, but feels a lot like the old board game, Clue - at least to me. Go into the movie open-mined about how this cast cares to tell the story. If you do this, the movie will be fun. If you continuously try to compare the film to Charade (like the critics), you will probably also want to rate it at 30+ percent.
