Plot Summary

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is "The Tooth Fairy," also known as Derek Thompson, a hard-charging minor league hockey player whose nickname comes from his habit of separating opposing players from their bicuspids. When Derek discourages a youngster's hopes, he’s sentenced to one week's hard labor as a real tooth fairy, complete with the requisite wings, magic wand and frilly tutu. At first, Derek "can't handle the tooth" – bumbling and stumbling as he tries to furtively wing his way through strangers' homes... doing what tooth fairies do. But as Derek slowly adapts to his new position, he begins to rediscover his own forgotten dreams.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Like most family films nowadays, the movie squanders a lot of energy righteously huffing and puffing its message: let kids dream. – Stephen Holden, New York Times, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: Basically, if you've seen the ads, you've seen the only joke in this one-joke movie, although there are also endless groan-worthy gags about wings and teeth. – Lou Lumenick, New York Post, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: The marvelously handsome wrestler-turned-actor -- proving once again better than the material he takes -- dons tights and a baby-blue satin tunic in the slight family comedy Tooth Fairy. – Lisa Kennedy, Denver Post, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: As dental experiences go, Tooth Fairy doesn't hurt as much as you might think. – Tom Long, Detroit News, Jun 24, 2010
